When I Began to Believe

My inner critic led to my demise. Some people could sense my low self-esteem and manipulated and took advantage of me. I was driven to do my best to please others, but I never experienced relief or satisfaction. I believed I was a failure. Eventually my body could handle no more and I became extremely sick. I suffered emotionally and physically for several years. But then God began to speak his sweet truth to me. He opened my eyes to the subtle lies my inner critic was constantly feeding me. Turn Around

What is your identity and who gave it to you? Oftentimes the labels that others give us, or that we give ourselves, are lies. These lies enslave us, they isolate, drown and kill us. But what would happen if you stopped believing these lies and exchanged them for the truth of Jesus? What He says about you- your true identity- frees you, reconciles, relieves, and gives you abundant life. Today Jesus says to you: “Believe me and turn around.”

My Inner Critic

It wasn’t until I was in my 30’s that I realized that I did not truly believe the many promises and truths of who I am in Christ. Sure, I heard many of them growing up, “God loves you,” “You are precious,” “You are God’s child.” But it was nothing more than knowledge retained in my head; it never connected with my heart, and I had no clue what it meant for my life or how to put it into practice. Instead, there was a deeper voice, offering constant commentary: “You’re selfish,” “You’re lazy,” “You need to do more…be more,”...
